A recommendation should tell you how it was made. Here is how we research products, what we look for, and how we keep our guides current.
How we select products
We start with a question real readers ask: what helps with fine lines, thinning hair, crepey neck or makeup on mature skin? Then we look for products with clearly identified ingredients or specifications, accessible instructions, a relevant use case for women over 40, and meaningful cautions.
We favor professional organizations, regulatory guidance and published research over marketing claims. Manufacturer information is useful for ingredients and instructions, but it is not independent proof that a product works.
Research first, hype never
Most of our picks are based on careful research: ingredient lists, brand reputation, manufacturer guidance, published studies and whether the product is sold by the brand or by Amazon directly. When we have tested a product ourselves, we say so in the guide and describe exactly how we used it. If a guide doesn’t mention hands-on testing, the recommendation is based on research.
Updated regularly
Beauty research changes, products get reformulated, and gift sets are discontinued. We revisit our guides regularly and update them when we learn about a safety note, a material product change or an error. Always check the exact item, seller and ingredients before you buy.
We never accept payment for positive reviews
Dewy Notes does not accept payment for a positive review, a higher ranking or a featured placement. Affiliate relationships help support the site, but they do not buy our opinion. We do not publish invented testimonials, borrowed star ratings or dramatic guarantees. If a product doesn’t earn its place, it doesn’t get one.
